I really had no expectations on my first trip to Switzerland. My friend and renowned luxury travel blogger Misha (@wildluxe_misha on Instagram), invited me along on a summer road trip through Switzerland, and I was excited to see a new country. I had no idea that I was to discover one of my favorite destinations on the planet. This country quickly captured my heart with its majestic landscapes, and the sweet melodies of cow bells serenading the Swiss Alps. Switzerland offers a great range for travelers of pristine cities, warm peple, great hiking and outdoor sports, and two of my most favorite things – cheese and chocolate!
Leave it to me to find some tropical fruit anywhere I travel! Loving these pineapples.
Exploring Zurich.
Our first stop was Zurich and we stayed at the elegant and historic Baur au Lac hotel. It was a beautiful combination of old European elegance with chic, tasteful, modern amenities. The property sits in a well situated central location, so we could walk around and explore the city. The service was exceptional, as was the food. The room was luxurious and spacious, with rich linens and textiles, and no detail was overlooked. One of the unique special touches that caught my eye at this property were the incredible flower arrangements located throughout the public spaces – shown in “Le Hall” below.
We discovered this fountain filled with roses nearby the Baur Au Lac.
PACKING TIP! Wear comfortable shoes to walk around the city by day, but definitely pack your favorite heels and a dress for night – this is a city that warrants putting on your dancing shoes.

The Baur au Lac is internationally renowned as one of the world’s top luxury hotels, an establishment steeped in 173 years of tradition, and has been owned by the same family for six generations. Guests are treated with tremendous attention to detail, and it did not disappoint.
Zurich is a beautiful city, and I especially enjoyed all the historic architecture and cobblestone streets highlighted with the bright colors sprinkled throughout the city by the flower boxes and aqua blue water. We had our city fix and were ready to hit the countryside for our 2 week road trip through Switzerland, and equally ready to indulge some of this incredible cheese we had been hearing about!
